About Us
Peacemakers Studio is a social enterprise started by ElShaddai Centre Berhad in Malaysia in 2024. We train Afghan refugees in the art of gemstone polishing and provide them with a sustainable and dignified livelihood. For refugees in Malaysia awaiting resettlement to a third country, they could be in limbo for a decade or even more. As Malaysia is not a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention, refugees and asylum-seekers in Malaysia have no legal right to work and many struggle to make ends meet or face exploitation in informal jobs.
Today, Peacemakers has four trained Afghan refugees crafting exquisite gemstone pieces, which is a testament to their talent and resilience. It is our hope that each one of our artisans will continue to build resilience, hold on to hope, and achieve their dreams wherever they are.
